Printing and Stationery Department of Assam Government executes all printing jobs of Government of Assam, including printing of Schedule and Non-Schedule forms, Budget, Assembly Questions departmental publications, various reports and confidential matters. The Department also purchases and supplies office stationery papers to all offices under the Government of Assam. All Government printing works are done in the Assam Government Press at Bamunimaidam. The Directorate of Printing and Stationery established at Industrial Estate at Bamunimaidam is the only Directorate office under Printing & Stationery Department. The Assam Government Press, Dispur Mini Press and Jorhat Branch Press are functioning under this Directorate. The Department of Printing & Stationery was created on 19-04-1983, vide Govt. Notification No. AR. 32/81/pt-II/1. The Citizen Charter is prepared so that the services can be achieved by the clients smoothly and promptly.
The Printing & Stationery Department will take all possible efforts to provide services to the citizens under Administrative control of Printing & Stationery Department within the limited time frame
To print confidential and essential documents of the State in a timely manner and procure and provide office stationery of high quality to all the Govt. Deptt. Which is cost effective.
a) Procurement and distribution of stationery materials of Government offices.
b) Timely printing of all important updated documents and materials
a)At the beginning of the financial year, on receipt of sectoral allocation, our Department submits Budget to Planning & Development Department. Budget is prepared in consultation with senior most Secretary and Departmental Minister.
b) After the said exercises are over, schemes/Head wise Budget is prepared.
c) The Department takes steps for disposal of all CAG matters including PAC, DRSC etc.
d) The Department deals with all established matters of the employees of Director, Printing & Stationery, Assam.
e) The Department also prepares materials for Governor's Speech, Budget Speech, Independence Day Speech, Republic Day Speech etc.
f) The Department is primarily responsible for executing printing works of all Departments of Government of Assam including schedule and non-schedule forms, budget speech, Assembly matters etc.
g) Procurement and stocking of various stationery items to meet the needs of Government departments.
h) The department also renders advice to various state Government departments on technical matters relating to printing and allied matters in printing technology as well.
